Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about converting video to audio with Videos-to-MP3.
Is Videos-to-MP3 really free?
Yes, entirely. There is no paid plan, no watermark, no trial period and no limit on audio length. To keep the service fast for everyone, each file can be up to 100 MB and each visitor can run up to 60 conversions per hour.
Which video formats can I convert?
MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WEBM, WMV, FLV, 3GP, MPEG/MPG, TS, MTS/M2TS, VOB, OGV, ASF, M4V and many more. Audio files (WMA, AAC, M4A, OGG, AMR, AIFF, WAV, FLAC…) are accepted as well. The converter checks the content of the file, not just its extension.
Which audio formats can I get?
MP3 (128 to 320 kbps), M4A/AAC (128 to 256 kbps), WAV (16-bit PCM), FLAC (lossless), OGG Vorbis (128 to 256 kbps) and Opus (64 to 160 kbps).
What happens to my files?
Your file is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection, processed in a private temporary folder that is not reachable from the web, and deleted together with the converted audio as soon as the result has been sent to your browser. If a conversion is abandoned, the leftovers are erased automatically within 30 minutes. We never keep, view or share your recordings.
Can I convert a YouTube or TikTok link?
No. Videos-to-MP3 only converts files that are already on your device. Downloading from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or other platforms breaks their terms of service and often infringes copyright, so we do not offer it. If you are the author of a video, you can download your own file from YouTube Studio or the platform’s export tool and convert it here.
What is the best quality for music?
Choose MP3 at 320 kbps for a universal file, or FLAC if you want a lossless copy. Keep in mind that the result can never be better than the audio inside the video: most phone videos contain AAC at 128–256 kbps, so 192–256 kbps MP3 already preserves everything.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Open the site in Safari, Chrome, Samsung Internet or Firefox, tap “Choose files”, pick a video from your gallery or the Files app, and download the MP3. On iPhone, downloads go to the Files app (Downloads folder) by default.
How long does a conversion take?
Uploading usually takes longer than converting. Once the file has arrived, a 10-minute video is converted in about 2 to 5 seconds. The progress bar shows the upload percentage, then an animated bar while the audio is being encoded.
Can I convert several videos at once?
Yes. Select or drop several files: they join a queue and are processed one by one. Each file gets its own player and download button, so you can keep working while the rest finishes.
Can I keep only part of the audio?
Yes. Open “Advanced options” and enter a start and/or end time (for example 1:30 and 2:45). Only that segment will be exported – handy for ringtones, quotes or a single song from a concert video.
What does “Normalize volume” do?
It analyses the loudness of the whole recording and adjusts it to a standard level (−16 LUFS, the target used by podcasts and streaming services) without clipping. Quiet lectures and phone recordings become clearly audible, and very loud files are brought down.
Why does my file say “no audio track”?
Some videos simply have no sound: GIF-like clips, screen recordings with audio disabled, or footage from drones and action cameras with the microphone turned off. There is nothing to extract in that case.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything happens on the website. There is no software, browser extension or app to install, and no account to create.
Is it legal to convert a video to MP3?
Converting your own videos, or videos whose licence allows it, is perfectly legal. Converting copyrighted content you do not have the rights to may not be, depending on your country. Our guide on the legal side explains the main rules.
