How do I convert a video to MP3?

Open Videos-to-MP3, drop your video file (MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WEBM… up to 100 MB) into the box above, keep MP3 selected and pick a quality (192 kbps is ideal for most uses, 320 kbps for music). The audio track is extracted automatically with FFmpeg, and a Download button appears a few seconds later. It is free, works on Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone, needs no account, and your files are deleted from our server as soon as the conversion is sent back to you.

    Three steps, about thirty seconds

    1. 01

      Add your video

Drag and drop one or more videos onto the page, or tap “Choose files”. Videos from a phone, a camera, a screen recorder or a video call all work.

    2. 02

      Choose the format

Keep MP3 for maximum compatibility, or pick M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG or Opus. Set the bitrate and, if you like, trim the start and end.

    3. 03

      Download the audio

The conversion starts on its own. Listen to the result in the built-in player, then save it with one click.

    Why people choose Videos-to-MP3

    Fast conversion

Audio is copied out of the video by FFmpeg on a powerful server: a 10-minute clip usually takes just a few seconds.

    Private by design

No account, no tracking of your files. Everything travels over HTTPS and is deleted right after your download.

    Studio-grade quality

MP3 up to 320 kbps with the LAME encoder, AAC for Apple devices, or lossless WAV and FLAC for editing.

    Batch conversion

Drop ten files at once: they are converted one after the other and each gets its own download button.

    Trim and normalize

Keep only the part you need and even out the volume of quiet recordings – no audio editor required.

    Works everywhere

Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, Android and iPhone: if it has a modern browser, it can convert.

    9 languages

The whole site, guides included, is available in English, Français, Español, Deutsch, Italiano, Português, العربية, Русский, Türkçe.

    Free, no catch

No watermark, no time limit on the audio, no email to give. Just your file, converted.

    Converters for every format

Each page is tuned for one format, with tips specific to that file type. They all use the same fast, private converter.

What does a video to MP3 converter actually do?

A video file is a container: it holds a video stream, one or more audio streams and sometimes subtitles or chapters. Converting a video to MP3 means reading the audio stream, decoding it and re-encoding it as MP3, while the picture is simply ignored. The result is a much smaller file – typically 15 to 50 times smaller than the video – that plays on any phone, car stereo, smart speaker or audio app.

Videos-to-MP3 relies on FFmpeg, the open-source engine used by VLC, YouTube’s own pipeline and most professional tools. That is why it reads almost every format you can throw at it, including recordings from iPhones (MOV/HEVC), Android phones (MP4), GoPro cameras, OBS, Zoom, Teams, WhatsApp and old camcorders (AVI, 3GP, MPEG).

    Which quality should you choose?

For speech – lectures, podcasts, interviews, meetings – 128 kbps MP3 is plenty and keeps files small (about 1 MB per minute). For music, 192 kbps sounds transparent to most listeners, and 320 kbps is the maximum the MP3 format allows. Remember that a converter cannot add quality that was not in the video: if the original audio was 128 kbps AAC, exporting at 320 kbps only makes the file bigger. If you plan to edit the sound in Audacity, GarageBand or a DAW, choose WAV or FLAC to avoid an extra generation of lossy compression.

    Your files stay yours

Many free converters are funded by aggressive ads, pop-ups or by keeping what you upload. We do the opposite: files are processed in an isolated temporary folder outside the public website, the converted audio is streamed straight back to your browser and both files are erased immediately. Abandoned jobs are wiped automatically within 30 minutes. We never ask for an email address, and we never publish, analyse or share your recordings. Details are in our privacy policy.

Only convert what you have the right to use

Videos-to-MP3 converts files that are on your device: your own recordings, videos you created, royalty-free footage or content whose licence allows it. We deliberately do not download videos from YouTube, TikTok or other platforms, because their terms forbid it and much of that content is protected by copyright. Our guide Is it legal to convert videos to MP3? explains the rules in plain language.

Which audio format should you pick?

    Frequently asked questions

    Is Videos-to-MP3 really free?

Yes, entirely. There is no paid plan, no watermark, no trial period and no limit on audio length. To keep the service fast for everyone, each file can be up to 100 MB and each visitor can run up to 60 conversions per hour.

Which video formats can I convert?

MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WEBM, WMV, FLV, 3GP, MPEG/MPG, TS, MTS/M2TS, VOB, OGV, ASF, M4V and many more. Audio files (WMA, AAC, M4A, OGG, AMR, AIFF, WAV, FLAC…) are accepted as well. The converter checks the content of the file, not just its extension.

Which audio formats can I get?

    MP3 (128 to 320 kbps), M4A/AAC (128 to 256 kbps), WAV (16-bit PCM), FLAC (lossless), OGG Vorbis (128 to 256 kbps) and Opus (64 to 160 kbps).

    What happens to my files?

Your file is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection, processed in a private temporary folder that is not reachable from the web, and deleted together with the converted audio as soon as the result has been sent to your browser. If a conversion is abandoned, the leftovers are erased automatically within 30 minutes. We never keep, view or share your recordings.

Can I convert a YouTube or TikTok link?

No. Videos-to-MP3 only converts files that are already on your device. Downloading from YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or other platforms breaks their terms of service and often infringes copyright, so we do not offer it. If you are the author of a video, you can download your own file from YouTube Studio or the platform’s export tool and convert it here.

What is the best quality for music?

Choose MP3 at 320 kbps for a universal file, or FLAC if you want a lossless copy. Keep in mind that the result can never be better than the audio inside the video: most phone videos contain AAC at 128–256 kbps, so 192–256 kbps MP3 already preserves everything.
